Netflix’s July releases are starting to get rusty.. well at least those other than Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. While we part ways with classics like Titanic, It’s all about the fresh fiestas of August from now. In addition to a number of movies, Netflix releases new originals in the coming month. From the looks of it, Netflix seems to be leading with its programming for August.
Here is a list of the new TV shows, movies and documentaries coming to Netflix in August.
RELEASING AUGUST 1
Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein (1999)
Alvin and his buds perform in the Majestic Movie Studios (a fictionalized version of Hollywood’s Universal Studios) in this 1999 horror comedy movie. After some performances they take a break and wander around, go astray and eventually end up with Dr. Victor Frankenstein letting lose his monster on them.
Set in the mid of the 20th century, a psychiatrist’s wife falls in love with one of his mental patients. Not only does the wife (Natasha Richardson) cheati on her husband, her newfound love is someone who has killed his wife brutally.
Bride and Prejudice (2004)
This Hollywood-Bollywood mash-up is based on an interracial romantic novel by Jane Austen.
Back In Time/ Cong Cong Na Nianv (2014)
A person remembers his past in the Beijing of 1980s and how his relationship with a beautiful woman ended.
Dear Frankie (2004)
In this Scottish romantic movie Lizzie Morrison (Emily Mortimer), along with her nine years old son Frankie (Jack McElhone), try to escape a life marred by an abusive ex-husband and eventually ends up falling in love with a complete stranger (Gerard Butler).
Enemy at the Gates (2001)
This fictionalized take on an actual sniping encounter between a German and a Russian (Jude Law) reflects the tension that surrounded The Battle of Stalingrad in World War II.
The Hurt Locker (2008)
In this Oscar winning movie, a battle-hardened war veteran by the name of William James (Jeremy Renner) joins the US Army’s EOD team in Iraq and finds himself in conflict with his teammates due to his unconventional ways of handling war.

Directed by the duo of Dardenne Brothers of Belgium, Two Days, One Night (a Beligian-Italian-French drama film) tells the story of a young Belgian working mother named Sandra (Marion Cotillard). Sandra experiences a nervous breakdown and after recovering she finds that her work colleagues have a lucrative offer of getting a bonus by making her redundant.
