After much speculation and fan theories Marvel and Netflix have finally agreed to bring life to The Punisher. We called it in our April post as hints of a Punisher revival was in the script of the Daredevil series.
Jon Bernthal(The Walking Dead, Grudge Match, The Wolf on Wall Street) will revive the legend of The Punisher beginning with a special appearancein the second season of Daredevil. A full series is scheduled to feature in the summer of 2016 with no updates on the plot, cast and antagonists yet.
Marvel’s head of Television, Jeph Loeb, has put his money on Bernthal claiming the actor will bring the charisma needed for recreating one of the darkest vigilantes in Marvel’s roster. “Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences…” claimed Loeb as he unveiled plans for the upcoming series.
Frank Castle’s introduction to the Daredevil universe is expected to bring dramatic changes to the series itself and set the stage for the upcoming Punisher series. The characters will be placed exactly like in the comic books where they are neither partners nor enemies. Lets hope they add in a certain scene in which the Punisher ties up Daredevil but leaves his hands free to hold and shoot a gun. Intense stuff!
In latest development Jason Statham will not reprise the role of BullsEyein the Daredevil series. As it happens, hype amongst fans have caused the actor’s demands to change, this led negotiations to stall between the Cranked up star, his agent and Marvel Studios.
