Who doesn’t remember the 92s classic fighting game Mortal Kombat? A pure classic! Still Remembered and talked about, the arcade game was an instant hit featuring some memorable characters such as Baraka, Cassie Cage, Cyrax, Smoke, Sonya Blade, and the famous Scorpion! It’s gonna be made into a movie!
Almost 27 years after the first version, the game and its name are still alive! It has a huge fan following as it has consistently brought in better and newer version over the time, below is how today’s Mortal Kombat 11 looks like.
Mortal Kombat Movies
Mortal Kombat (1995)
The 1995 film was well received by the audiences worldwide with grossing over $122 million globally, despite having mixed reviews from critiques. The storyline was well aligned and never went off track and the cast – Robin Shou (Liu Kang), Linden Ashby (Johny Cage) and Bridgette Willson (Sonya Blade) were great in their parts.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)
The 1997 annihilation was not really a hit and did not really gain much attention or praise from the audiences, compared to the 95 movie it only made around $50 million worldwide. The movie received poor reception from critics as well, it just did not have the same pull that the Mortal Kombat cult needed.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
We’ll for fans, there is good news! Screenwriter Greg Russo has already completed the script for the upcoming movie. Even though James Wan, the producer had signed on to produce a new Mortal Kombat movie back in 2015 only, he did not want to rush things so that the movie does not face a similar fate as the Annihilation.

The movie will be directed by Simon McQuoid, while Warner bros hold the distribution rights of the movie, due to be released on March 5th, 2021.
