“Star Trek” was made by JJ Abrams in 2009, and since then, the three in the new Kelvin timeline that Abrams made have been massive hits. “Star Trek,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” and “Star Trek Beyond” have all made over a billion dollars at the box office around the world.

With multiple delays, cancellations, and contradicting rumors of additional movies in the works, such as one from Star Trek: Discovery’s Kalinda Vazquez, the path to this film has not been smooth.

This specific film will be directed by WandaVision filmmaker Matt Shakman and written by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires, based on an earlier screenplay by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson, according to Abrams.

According to a piece in The Hollywood Reporter from early 2022, everyone from the original franchise was surprised that Star Trek 4 was even in the works.

With this in mind, a part of me believes that the new release date they established will be pushed back again, especially if the actors and their teams were unaware that the film was being made.

If there are no more delays, Star Trek 4 will come out on December 22, 2023. It was supposed to come out on June 9, 2023, but it was put back until November 2021 because Paramount changed the dates of its upcoming movies.

So if it’s a continuation of Kelvin, we’re happy to wait a little longer now that we know the same Star Trek 4 casts.

People were putting cold water on a new movie from Simon Pegg in early 2020 because he thought the series had lost its “momentum” after Anton Yelchin died and Star Trek Beyond didn’t do well.

In August 2020, it was announced that Hawley’s film was no longer a priority for Paramount, owing to the fact that it centered on a terrible virus.

Despite all the misgivings, star John Cho was always confident that the fourth film will be made: “To be honest, it isn’t happening right now as far as I am aware, but I believe it will.

We’ll all get on the same page at some time, and we’ll do it.” Star Trek 4 will begin production by the end of 2022, according to Abrams, although we don’t have any particular dates yet.

Star Trek 4 will start filming in 2022, Abrams says. The Star Trek movies we’ve already talked about is also being connected with the rumors about making a Quentin Tarantino spin-off movie. According to Tarantino, it “might” still happen, but he won’t be in charge of it anymore.

What Will Be The Cast Of Star Trek 4?

Star Trek 4

It’s not definite, but Zachary Quinto (Spock), Karl Urban (Bones), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Chris Pine (Kirk), John Cho (Sulu), and Simon Pegg are all expected to return in the upcoming film (Scotty). Hopefully, Paramount won’t have too much issue bringing them back, although bringing back previous cast members for a new film has proven tricky in the past.

The fourth film was originally planned to be a time-traveling adventure in which Chris Pine’s James T Kirk reunited with his long-dead father, played by Chris Hemsworth.

These actors have been extremely busy and will certainly feature in a number of forthcoming films and beyond, but the news that they may return for Star Trek 4 is even more thrilling.

Whether this new version of Star Trek 4 trailer plans to bring back Chris Hemsworth or go in a completely different direction is unknown, we’ll have to wait until the next few months to find out more about who will be cast.

We don’t know yet if Anton Yelchin, who played Pavel Chekov in the first movie, died in 2016.

Wrapping Up

If JJ Abrams wants to take the movie series in new directions, we’re sure that he’ll keep the plot a secret until it comes out.
