Do you find documentaries boring? Was the last time you watched a documentary in your classroom? Well, let me bring to you some amazingly engaging and intriguing documentaries on Netflix Canada that you’ll be recommending to everyone!
1. Evil Genius
Remember the movie “SAW”, of course, you do! No one with a healthy memory can forget the excruciating puzzles set by the Jigsaw! Evil Genius is something of this sort, back in 2003 Brian Wells, a pizza delivery guy was forced to rob a bank in Pennsylvania, how?
A group of criminals set up a collar bomb on Brian, just like in the movie Brian has to find some certain keys hidden at specific places and eventually enter and rob the bank. Unluckily the bomb ticks off, blowing Brian into pieces like mincemeat… check out the documentary to find out the events that get him involved in this deadly crime scene.
2. Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011)
Making Sushi is an art and a science and the 85-year-old Jiro Ono is nailing it at his Tokyo’s Sukiyabashi Jiro. His 10-seat restaurant has achieved three Michelin stars and global fame. The documentary shows Ono’s continuous practice to perfection and leaving a legacy behind.
3. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes
If you’ve seen Zac Efron’s “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile”, the movie portrays the story of the real-life serial killer Ted Bundy. The documentary is called Ted Bundy Tapes because they are in fact an inspired by the meeting of filmmaker Joe Berlinger with journalist Stephen Michaud about his conversations with Bundy while he was in prison.
Bundy had a charming personality, one which would actually attract people towards him, girls to be specific. No one would believe that such a soft-spoken gentleman kind of a guy has such ghosts in the closet.
4. End of Sentence
The period is a short yet 2018 award-winning film, focusing on the issue and awareness of menstruation in India. A group of women develops ways of making low-cost sanitary pads, in a country where even toilets are unheard of.
To win a cycling competition, director Bryan Fogel experiments with doping. His experiment opens up a bigger scandal as he digs down and explores the world of doping in athletics — what he finds out is that the Russians cheated the Olympics under Putin’s government. The documentary has also won an Oscar.
With breathtakingly beautiful HD shots, Samsara is one documentary that literally has no script. The videography is enough to give you goosebumps and raise every single hair on your body! The documentary is sure to take you into a spiritual state as it shows both the sides of the world and what humans have done to it. The good and the bad.
