Popular Letterkenny Spinoff Shoresy Renewed for Season 2 on Hulu

Hulu’s ‘Shoresy’, the spinoff of popular Canadian sitcom ‘Letterkenny’, has been renewed for a second season. The announcement of the renewal came from the show creator Jared Keeso.

Hulu’s Twitter account shared a video featuring the Sudbury Bulldogs, Shoresy’s senior AAA hockey team, training by running through the snow. The video was shared with the caption: “The Bulldogs are back. #Shoresy Season 2 coming soon.”

The video showcases a glimpse into what’s next for the team, following the success of Shoresy’s season 1, which introduced a new cast of characters as Shoresy joined the minor hockey ranks. The spinoff series has received critical acclaim and has a perfect 100 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 94 percent audience rating. The show has been praised for its unexpectedly wholesome portrayal of the beloved and crude Shoresy character.

Season 1, consisting of six episodes, premiered on Hulu in May 2022. The series follows Shoresy, a fan-favorite character, as he moves to Northern Ontario to help the struggling ice hockey team, the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, after they lost 20 consecutive games and finished last in the Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization. Shoresy makes a bet with team general manager Nat that if given the chance to take control, the team will never lose again.

This bet sets the events of the series in motion and leads to a compelling spinoff story that differentiates itself from the original series, featuring the locker room and an ice rink during climactic moments. In season 1, Shoresy bands together with new coach Sanguinet and a roster of new players to prove that the Bulldogs can achieve both on-ice success and financial gain.

The Season 2 cast includes Keeso (Shoresy), Tasya Teles (Nat), Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat (Sanguinet), Blair Lamora (Ziigwan), Keilani Rose (Miigwan), Jonathan-Ismael Diaby (Dolo), Terry Ryan (Hitch), Ryan McDonell (Michaels), Max Bouffard (JJ Frankie JJ, also seen in “Letterkenny”), Andrew “The Canon” Antsanen (Goody), Jon “Nasty” Mirasty (Jim), Brandon Nolan (Jim), Jordan Nolan (Jim), Keegan Long (Liam) and Bourke Cazabon (Cory).

Keeso is not only the show’s executive producer, but also a creator, writer and a star. Alongside Keeso is Tierney, serving as the executive producer and director, and Kaniehtiio Horn as a producer. “Shoresy” has been produced by New Metric Media, in association with Play Fun Games. While Bell Media developed “Shoresey” for Crave.

Given that ‘Letterkenny’ has been loved and praised by its core audience for its sharp writing, quick-witted dialogue, and unique characters, a spinoff series for Letterkenny may be a good idea for Hulu. A fan tweeted praising Jared Keeso: “Who’s watched Shoresy on Hulu? Great spin off to Letterkenny and I think Jared Keeso is a hidden gem.” All of the actors in Letterkenny received praise for their work, but some of the standouts included the Dyck family, which is headed by Noah (Jonathan Torrens) and Anita (Sarah Wayne Callies), the rumor-spouting fighting team Ginger and Boots, and the fearless First Nations defender Tanis (Kaniehtiio Horn).

If the same amount of consideration and enthusiasm is put into another Letterkenny or Shoresy spinoff series, whether it features one of the characters mentioned above or another, it seems likely that only positive outcomes would result.

The Shoresy season 2 filming will start this spring in Sudbury, Canada. While the second season will not be available on Hulu for some time, season 1 is currently accessible for streaming. Here’s how you can watch the show Shoresy on Hulu even if you’re living outside the US. Moreover, for fans of the show who want to watch ‘Letterkenny’ and its spinoffs, here’s how you could watch Letterkenny on Hulu from anywhere in the world.
