The show has proven to be quite popular in its Tuesday 10 PM slot. The decision was made ahead of the Season 1 finale, which is set to air on May 2.

The police procedural show is based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling books and has been making waves in the network’s viewership numbers. The show has become the top new drama of the season, with an impressive 9.9 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic across linear and digital platforms after 35 days of viewing.
Not only has the show captured the attention of viewers, but it’s also significantly improved ABC’s weekly 10 PM time slot when compared to the same time frame last season. In 2020 – 2021 season Big Sky managed to engage audiences similarly. The network reports that the show has boosted total viewership in this time slot by a whopping 143% and by 25% among adults 18-49 this season.
Nielsen and the network have also reported that Will Trent has gained an astounding 6.8 million total viewers over its initial Live+Same Day average after 35 days of multi-platform viewing. This data reinforces the show’s popularity and its ability to engage audiences across different mediums.
The show follows the story of Georgia Bureau of Investigations’ Special Agent Will Trent, who had a difficult upbringing in Atlanta’s foster care system after being abandoned at birth. However, now that he has the opportunity to make a difference, he’s determined to ensure that no one has to go through what he went through.
