Britney Spears’ Father Wants Her to Be Deposed at Next Court Hearing

britney and father

Despite everything Britney Spears endured at the hands of her father Jamie Spears, his greed seems to have no end. The latter continues to harass his daughter with legal cases in order to get his hands on more money which is rightfully hers.

The father-daughter is entangled in yet another legal case involving his legal fees and Britney’s allegations of conservatorship abuse, courtesy of the so-called father, even after Spears has broken free of the conservatorship shackles.

Just last year, even Britney’s mother was demanding $650K in attorney fees after the singer blamed her mother on social media for putting the idea of conservatorship in Jamie Spears’ mind.

Legal fees are expensive

PEOPLE got their hands on the court documents, and it looks like Jamie’s lawyers filed paperwork as of last week requesting that Britney sit for a deposition to challenge the claims she made about Jamie Spears in her upcoming tell-all memoir and on social media.

Jamie Spears wants more

Jamie’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten wrote in the declaration asking for Britney’s deposition by stating:

“Britney’s counsel claims Britney is exempt from discovery obligations regarding her allegations of wrongdoing, but Jamie has a right to prepare his case and depose Britney, as she is the individual making unsupported claims against him.”

Lawyers are looking to have her depose

According to the filing, “there is no legal basis” to object to testifying as the questioning will be related to “emotionally difficult topics” and these topics have already been talked about by Britney on social media. The attorney went on to cite multiple Instagram posts as well from the last few months to make his point.

Two scenarios

The filing also presented two scenarios for the singer:

“She claims through her court filings and through her social media musings to know all kinds of information relating to her allegations of wrongdoing. “

“Accordingly, Britney either: (1) has the knowledge about her allegations that she professes to have in court filings and on social media; or (2) has no such knowledge or support and simply believes that she can say whatever she wants in court and on social media regardless of whether her allegations are true.”

The 69-year-old father Jamie hopes the court will be intervening at their next proceeding which is scheduled to take place on July 13th

Britney’s lawyer fights back

Just last month, Britney’s own lawyer Mathew Rosengart filed a similar case requesting Jamie to be deposed. He was given the notice on October 20th, 2021, and “still has not appeared for his deposition” according to Britney’s lawyer.

The filing also mentioned how Jamie Spears has failed to comply with the past eight dates offered for a deposition.

In December, Jamie Spears requested that Britney’s estate pay his legal team for “ongoing fiduciary duties relating to the winding up of the Conservatorship of the Person and Estate” just after a month her conservatorship ended. Rosengart called the act “shameful” while talking to PEOPLE at that time.

Rosengart has pushed the court to compel Jamie Spears to be deposed. He said the latter has vital information in regards to “pending matters” and purposely avoids the court sit-down as he himself allegedly broke conservatorship regulations.

Just last year, Jamie Spears filed a petition to end Britney’s conservatorship, after 13 years of controlling her life and every major aspect of it, with the hopes of earning $2 million as compensation. After getting freed from the shackles, the artist was more than happy to move on from the family trauma that was inflicted upon her over the years.

We hope Britney continues to be strong and faces Jamie Spears head-on to get the much-deserved peace in her life without letting her family continue to haunt her.
