Jim Lee said,
This is a long-term partnership between Warner Bros., DC and Spotify. I think the fanbase is going to respond to this in an exciting way and embrace it as something new and novel.
The first project is David Goyer’s ‘Batman Unburied’ series, among many others, which will explore the darker side of the psychology of Bruce Wayne. Later this year, it is scheduled to debut on Spotify.
The negotiations began when there was reports of a podcast deal between Warner Bros. and Spotify last summer. The companies teased at the time that popular DC superheroes and supervillains would be the subjects of numerous audio channel podcasts.
For HBO Max, the studio is also working on a separate Batman podcast. Jeffrey Wright will appear in the comedic series,’ Batman: The Audio Adventures.’
The projects are the result of a comprehensive podcast deal Warner Bros. signed last summer with Spotify. The companies teased at the time that famous DC superheroes and supervillains would be the targets of the audio giant’s numerous podcasts.
The news about the DC podcasts came during Spotify’s jam-packed 90-minute presentation, in which the company also revealed that it had signed a podcast agreement to create genre podcasts with Joe and Anthony Russo.
