Recently Ewan Mc Gregor hinted about his return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a Disney+ limited series. As the movie’s famous saying goes “a galaxy far, far away” so it’s pretty safe to say that the actor is going to be back.

It should not be forgotten that Ewan is a Golden Globe winner, and his character of Obi-Wan Kenobi has served as a very important part in the Star Wars films.

Now that Disney + is creating a limited series, Ewan is preparing for his role, however without revealing too much. The actor stated on CBS Sunday Morning.

There may, or may not, be cloaks, I’m not saying anything! But to come back to play him again, Obi-Wan Kenobi has been absolutely brilliant, I’m really enjoying it.

Ewan also stated that he had been avoiding questions from the press for the last one and a half-decade, since he appeared in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The actor regarded that whole period as very annoying. This was due to every interview pointing in the same direction, which was whether he’s likely to star in an upcoming Star Wars movie. This question was so consistently and frequently asked that Ewan started feeling like he was indirectly asking for a job from Disney.

He explained how hard it was to dodge these questions, as he himself did not know anything about his future casting in the series. He said he’d have to lie or come up with phrases that would keep the question hanging. He usually answered that he would love to play the role again, which was not dishonest.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi role was originated by Alec Guinness. Ewan played the role in The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005) including a voice cameo in the latest Star Wars episode, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.

In August 2019, Ewan officially joined Disney+ for the limited Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The storyline revolves around Obi-Wan going on a mission ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith while also looking after the young Luke Skywalker.

Ewan opened up in the Jimmy Kimmel show, saying that the costume will be a bit different from what the audience might expect. However, getting back into this role feels great to him and his thousands of fans globally.

Hayden Christensen’s role as Anakin Skywalker will be revived in the six-episode series, which will premiere in 2022. Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjiani, Maya Erskine, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Moses Ingram, Rupert Friend, and Benny Safdie round out the cast.
