Depp vs. Heard Trial: Doctor Who Evaluated Heard Says She Has Personality Disorder

Day 9 of Heard vs. Depp trial continues with more new evidence coming up. This time, it was Dr. Curry who took the stand and spoke at length about the Aquaman actress, Amber Heard’s condition.

Dr. Curry is a clinical and forensic psychologist who evaluated the actress’s psychological state and testified about her exhibiting signs of borderline and histrionic personality disorders

Dr. Shannon Curry was asked by the court to evaluate Ms. Heard back in October 2021 but the actress’s reluctance never let it happen, especially after Heard knew it was to be done for Depp.

That was when Dr. Curry reviewed the case documents and gained access to her medical records, audio and video recordings, witness statements, and more. The two met on two separate dates; 10th and 17th December 2021.

Despite showing signs of personality disorders, the Dr. claimed no evidence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Just because somebody doesn’t have PTSD doesn’t mean that they weren’t harmed psychologically by whatever is being alleged — in this case, Ms. Heard is alleging that she was psychologically harmed and that she suffered PTSD because of abuse that she alleges occurred by Mr. Depp.

Many users reported this testimony and also noted Amber’s constant eye-rolling on the statements. Check out the tweet by @tasteofsanity below:

Mayo Clinic defines a borderline personality disorder as “a mental health disorder that impacts the way you think and feels about yourself and others, causing problems functioning in everyday life. It includes self-image issues, difficulty managing emotions and behavior, and a pattern of unstable relationships.”

“With borderline personality disorder, you have an intense fear of abandonment or instability, and you may have difficulty tolerating being alone. Yet inappropriate anger, impulsiveness and frequent mood swings may push others away, even though you want to have loving and lasting relationships,”

Histrionic personality is defined by Mayo Clinic as a condition “characterized by dramatic, overly emotional or unpredictable thinking or behavior.” Dr. Curry pointed out these conditions compel the person to take on a “victim” or “princess” role, using fake and false stories to win attention.

Mayo Clinic claims it becomes the cause of “constantly seeking attention” followed by “Excessively emotional, dramatic or sexually provocative to gain attention.”

The forensic psychologist shared how she was reached out by Depp’s legal team in the past after a dinner with the actor himself, and also Depp’s right-hand man and attorney Adam Waldman.

Dr. Curry had prepared her evaluation from the 12-hour interaction she got with the actress in 2021. Dr. Curry talked about the kind of tests she conducted.

The actress’s attorney questioned the Dr. on her visit to Mr. Depp’s house, Don’t you think that’s a little odd that you’re getting interviewed by Mr. Depp to decide whether you’re going to testify adversely against Amber Heard?.” Dr. Curry responded, “I was interviewed by the legal team.”

She provided Amber Heard with 567 statements which she had to answer as either True or False. After detailed answering, her answers characterized her as someone who externalized blame, inner anger, and hostility. People with borderline disorder have such traits can react violently, they can react aggressively.

Oftentimes they will be abusive to their partners in these situations,” Curry noted.

Dr. Curry also noted that this transcends to, what she calls, administrative violence,” which compels the “victim” to use the legal system to fight back.

After Tuesday’s lunch break, Head Lawyer Elaine Bredehoft further questioned Dr. Curry’s closeness to Depp’s side and how her diagnosis perfectly taunts Heard’s behavior, as was heard in the audio recording played earlier.

Dr. Curry defended her stance and claimed that she never pointed directly at any side and only evaluated her. She never talked about exhibits patterns of behavior that suggest her allegations of abuse against Mr. Depp are false.

Bredehoft was clearly trying to point out the bias of the forensic psychologist. Curry stood with facts and even claimed that it is rare for men to accuse women of abusing them, if they’re not the perpetrator.

The relationship between the two, mixed with abuse of over 4 years, according to Heard, can become a leading cause of not just trauma but also disorders that the actress portrayed in her evaluation. Chartered psychologist Dr. Jessica Taylor called Dr. Curry’s opinionPredictable and lazy.

She says that the borderline personality disorder label has been used knowingly and deliberately weaponized against Amber Heard, just as it is against many women testifying against their male abusers in court.”

There were remote testimonies from Tara Roberts, the estate manager of Depp’s Bahama residence who witnessed the couple arguing and testified. She claimed to have Heard saying “You’re a washed-up actor… You’ll die a fat, lonely old man.” She says Depp accused Heard of “Hitting me with a can” leading to “bruising on the bridge of his nose.”

Ms. Roberts claimed to see Heard “clawing, grabbing at [Depp’s] clothes… trying to viciously pull him back,” while Depp “didn’t react” and “stood there with his arms by his side” not doing anything.

The 9th day featured Ms. Roberts’s statements of abuse from Heard, her comment of Depp being a “washed-up actor,” and police offer claiming no signs of domestic violence in LA, even after the alleged incident and the disastrous family trip. The couple’s relationship is still labeled toxic and Depp’s ‘broken’ condition continues.
