Jada Pinkett Smith Glimmers in Gold in First Public Appearance after the Oscars Incident

Jada golden Gown-post oscar appearance

The host of Red Table Talk steps out glimmering in gold, making her first post-Oscars public appearance after her husband Will Smith’s outrageous slap incident.

The actress wore a strapless golden gown matching the Best Actor award her husband got the same night. On Saturday night, Pinkett Smith attended the grand opening of the Shonda Rhimes Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, California.

The 50-year-old posed and showed off her sparkling gold gown that was floor-length, flowing across the red carpet.

The grand opening also included celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson, choreographer Debbie Allen, and the Center’s supporter, Shonda Rhimes. It was announced on Instagram that the Debbie Allen Dance Academy be renamed Shonda Rhimes Performing Arts Center.

Jada shared on her Instagram a congratulatory post and a tribute to the choreographer, actor, and director, Debbie Allen, sharing she will always be a part of the new Performing Art Center.

Pinkett had worked with the Grey’s Anatomy creator Debbie, to produce and direct the sitcom A Different World, and also partook in a tribute to the legendary dancer during the 2021 Emmy Awards.

Allen’s comments under the post were heartwarming. “You came to SLAY, Honey!” Allen said. “LOVE YOU & THANK YOU!” Of course, the post had restricted comments since many of her fans are demanding a response from the Oscars incident. Her only response to that was a post on 29th March 2022 that read “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.”

On Friday, the Academy announced a 10-year ban against Will Smith, who had already stepped back from the Academy as a member earlier. This is in light of punishment for slapping the presenter Chris Rock on stage during the Oscars telecast when the comedian joked about Jada’s bald head.

The actress found the joke distasteful since she has alopecia and was forced to go bald. She had also been targeted in the past by the comedian Chris Rock.

At the 2022 Oscars, Chris made a joke comparing Jada to G.I Jane, a feature from the 90s that featured a bald lady. Smith rose from his seat, went up on stage, slapped the presenter, went back to his seat, and yelled profanity at the host.

Pinkett Smith had opened up about her alopecia in an episode of Red Table Talk in 2018, where she shared why she cut her hair.

Will Smith won his first Oscar as the lead in “King Richard.” In his acceptance speech, he apologized to the Academy and attended the post-Oscar Vanity Fair which he enjoyed. Later the actor took to Instagram to post his apology to Will Smith. Chris Rock did the same on his account and has yet to say anything about the incident.

Will Smith is now seeking therapy to improve and get better, but how far will the Academy ban affect his acting career. Will Smith was currently between the shooting of two productions, both of which have been paused until further notice. Stay tuned for further updates.
