In the September cover story of Allure, the 18-year-old “Stranger Things” actress revealed how her former relationship with the TikTok star Hunter Ecimovic was toxic and disturbing for her. The actress has been known to keep her personal life out of the public eye and is usually seen talking about the characters she play.
Brown stated to Allure that both of them were in a relationship that she used to call an “unhealthy state of affairs.” It started back in 2020, and after months of miserable experiences, she decided to break up and ultimately walk away.
Several months after Brown ended things with Ecimovic, the 22-year-old went live on social media to announce that he had been in an inappropriate romantic relationship with Brown, a minor at that time. He claimed to have “groomed” the young actress, who is now seeing another guy, Jake Bongiovi, son of the singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor Jon Bon Jovi.
Sharing her feelings about how she took her ex-boyfriend’s live video she said:
“I felt very vulnerable. Also, no one on the set [of Stranger Things] knew I was going through this. So it was kind of nice to be able to just deal with that myself and no one else knew,”
Brown continued to say, “Then it was harder when the whole world knew.”
Despite the fact that Bobby was dating Bongiovi at the time Ecimovic made the allegations, the actress and businesswoman said she still got hurt by the comments made by her ex-boyfriend. Ecimovic was eventually exposed by Brown’s team, while also condemning Ecimovic’s comments that called Brown “dishonest” and “irresponsible.” He then apologized later.
Brown further told Allure,
“It was a year of healing. When you get publicly humiliated this way, I felt so out of control and powerless. Walking away and knowing that I’m worth everything and this person didn’t take anything from me, it felt very empowering. It felt like my life had finally turned a page and that I actually had ended a chapter that felt so f—ing long.”

She added: “Ultimately, all I wanted to do within my career is help young girls and young people out there know that I, too, go through things. I’m not this perfect person that is selling skin-care products and [who is] in Stranger Things. I absolutely have made wrong decisions.”
“Mr. Ecimovic’s remarks on social media are not only dishonest but also are irresponsible, offensive, and hateful,” her rep told E! News in July 2021. “Instead of engaging in a public discourse with him through the press or on social media, we are taking action to ensure that he stops this behavior once and for all.”
