The King of streaming world, Netflix has again showed how strong it stands and what place it holds in the industry by striking a deal with Price Harry and Meghan Markle. The deal includes the production of scripted series, docu-series, documentaries, features and children’s programming.
Ted Sarandos, co-CEO and content chief at Netflix, said, “Harry and Meghan have inspired millions of people all around the world with their authenticity, optimism, and leadership, We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home — and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,”.
The Netflix also commented that Price Harry and Meghan Markle are, “committed to highlighting diverse voices in front of and behind the camera and to diverse hiring practices for the key roles they are actively filling at their production company.”
While the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, it can surely be assumed that obviously a deal between the Price and Netflix wouldn’t be small.
This is the couple’s first financial venture after stepping back from Royalty, their production company is yet to be named.
As per the New York Times, the couple said, their key focus is producing content that “informs but also gives hope” as well as family programming and noted Netflix having 193 million subscribers worldwide, would provide them “unprecedented reach” to “share impactful content that unlocks action.”
