Selena Gomez Responds to Body-Shaming Critics with Grace and Strength

Gomez-Seemingly-Responds-to-Body-Shaming-Comments-After-2023-Golden-Globes-Appearance

Selena Gomez made a bold statement at the Golden Globes Awards on Sunday night, appearing on the red carpet in a stunning, form-fitting gown that accentuated her curves. The singer and actress, who has been open about her struggles with body image, appeared to be making a statement about self-love and body positivity. Gomez, who is no stranger to body-shaming comments and criticism, was sending a message to her haters with her outfit choice. She looked confident and radiant on the red carpet, and her fans couldn’t help but notice.

She did not win an award for the category; the singer may have won the internet by ostensibly reacting to people who wrote negative remarks about her figure after photographs and recordings of her at the event were uploaded online. If you live outside the USA, here is how to watch the Golden Globe Awards 2023 from outside the United States.

Gomez responded to the critics while conversing with her younger sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, in a video that was first broadcast live on Instagram and then filmed and shared on TikTok by the popnewsdaily account. “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays,” She proclaimed to her followers before turning her attention to Gracie and inquiring about the latter’s judgment with the word “right.” Gomez eventually started laughing uncontrollably when Gracie gave the impression that she agreed with the singer.

Last Year, she responded to naysayers on Instagram Live who commented about her physical appearance.“I don’t care about my weight because people bitch about it anyway. ‘You’re too small. You’re too big. That doesn’t fit,’” she said. “Bitch, I am perfect the way I am.”

The celebrity has already taken a stand against those who criticize people’s bodies. In April 2022, she discussed the issue of being assessed based on her beauty. “So I am trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box, and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich,” she said on TikTok. “But honestly, I don’t care about my weight because people bitch about it anyway: ‘You’re too small.’ ‘You’re too big.’ ‘That doesn’t fit. ‘ ‘Meh meh meh meh.’’

Gomez’s presence on the red carpet is a step in the right way since the Hollywood business has long been attacked for its lack of representation of plus-size and varied bodies, and this criticism has been going on for a long time. Twenty-five years after the film premiere that went on to win several Oscars, Kate Winslet has recently brought up the borderline abusive body-shaming statements that she was exposed to in the media. Winslet’s comments came up due to the media’s coverage of the film “The Reader.”

Gomez has had a rough experience with social media for many years, and she just resumed posting on Instagram after taking a break from the platform. Gomez dropped a clue about her comeback to social media on Tuesday by posting a set of three bathroom photos that she took with her phone. She posted with a caption, “Wait, can you tell I’m back on Instagram ?”

The celebrity has been offering 369 million followers a glimpse into her inner circle by posting more intimate photos on her social media accounts over the last few weeks. She posted a cute selfie with her sister Gracie on January 6 and images from her New Year’s Eve party with her friends Nicola Peltz Beckham and Brooklyn Beckham a few days before. Gracie is her daughter’s dog.

In a society where body shaming is all too common, it’s refreshing to see a celebrity like Selena Gomez standing up for herself and sending a message of self-love and body positivity. Her red carpet-appearance is a powerful reminder to young women everywhere that it’s okay to embrace their curves and be proud of their bodies.
