‘The Bear’ Season 2 Premieres in June, Teaser Hints At The Beef’s Rebirth

The Bear by FX is returning to Hulu with a second season in June. Fans found out the premiere month for the show when a teaser for season 2 was unveiled at Sunday’s 95th annual Academy Awards. An exact premiere date has not been disclosed as of now.

Fans may have something to rejoice about since the teaser hints that The Original Beef of Chicagoland will be ‘reborn’. The Beef is the iconic family-run restaurant at the heart of the story and at the end of Season 1, Jeremy Allen White‘s Carmy had decided to shut its doors, so that he could open a new restaurant.

The teaser was also showcased on The Bear’s official Twitter with the caption:  “It’s not a reopening, it’s a rebirth.”

It has also been revealed that Season 2 will have an increased number of episodes. With 10 singles this time instead of last season’s 8. It stars White as well as Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce and Liza Colón-Zayas.

Created by Christopher Storer, the second season will focus on the new restaurant’s opening and all of the complications that come along with it.

The Bear follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (White), a young chef from the fine dining world who returns to Chicago to operate his family sandwich store – The Original Beef of Chicagoland – following the traumatic death of a loved one. Carmy must juggle the soul-crushing reality of small company ownership, his strong-willed and obstinate culinary crew, and his damaged familial connections, all while dealing with the aftermath of his brother’s death.

The first season of The Bear was met with great acclaim, winning at the WGAs and Indie Spirit Awards as well as receiving Golden Globe, Critics Choice and SAG nods. White won the SAG award for best actor in February, in addition to the Critics’ Choice and Golden Globe awards.

Carmey (White) and Sydney’s (Edebiri) relationship will not grow beyond coworkers and (kind of) friends in the second season, according to stars White and Edebiri and executive producer Joanna Calo.“We wanted to make something that was about friendship and a partnership,” Storer said. “It really is so funny that that is one of the things that people took away — of all the heavy shit that’s going on in the show! It was interesting because Ayo and Jeremy, since they are our friends and are such wonderful people, I think there is this charisma that comes off both of them.”

Show creator Storer, who also serves as executive producer alongside Joanna Calo, Hiro Murai, and Nate Matteson of Super Frog and Josh Senior, with Tyson Bidner serving as producer and Matty Matheson as co-producer.

“FX’s ‘The Bear’ returns this June. Only on Hulu,” read the caption for the teaser. Take a look at it below:
