Disney is yet to make its biggest investment ever by introducing Disney+, back in 2017 Disney announced that it would be introducing its own streaming service just like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Finally it is expected to start by the end of 2019.

The giant expects to pull in around 130 million subscribers in a span of 5 years on its Disney+ platform.

News have also been looming around that Ewan McGregor is in talks for an Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+, initially the plan was to launch an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie but Disney plans to make it into a series intending to make use of its streaming service.

Ewan McGregor is famous for his legendary role as Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi and if the series is released, it will finally give the fans an Obi-Wan Kenobi focused movie which the Star Wars fans have been dying to see!

Disney may use this as a bait to attract new subscribers and lift up its streaming service and set the path to growth.

The news of the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series hints at Disney’s streaming platforms arrival soon, such a massively followed and loved character would surely give Disney+ a kick off to build an audience base.

As per Kevin Feige, chief at Marvel studios an Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series could lead to a movie in the future. Even though the CEO at Disney, says they do not rely on Star Wars for survival, but it definitely is a great revenue generating stream.

Disney+ plans on keeping a library full of premium shows and movies so that it can attract subscribers and retain them even if no particular title is their reason for subscribing.
