Harry Styles has pledged over $1 million to raise awareness about gun control measures following another horrific shooting in America at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, which claimed the lives of 19 pupils and two teachers.

Two days after Salvador Ramos, 18, went on a rampage and opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, the 28-year-old pop sensation announced his cooperation with Everytown for Gun Safety.

He stated he’ll work with the organization, whose objective is to end gun violence, by providing over $1 million in tour revenues, along with LiveNation, to support the non-efforts profits and share their suggested action items.’

The lone gunman shot and killed 19 young children, two teachers, and injured 17 others before being apprehended and killed by law police, making it the third-deadliest school shooting in the United States after the murders at Virginia Tech in 2007 and Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012.

On Friday, Styles posted a statement to his 45.2 million Instagram followers with the caption: ‘End gun violence’.

“Along with all of you, I have been absolutely devastated by the recent string of mass shootings in America, culminating at the latest in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas”.

He further added, “On our North American tour, we will be partnering with Everytown who work to end gun violence, donating to support their efforts, and sharing their suggested action items. Love, H”.

He also shared a disturbing statistic from Everytown for Gun Safety, “Firearms are the #1 leading cause of death for American children and teens”.

Styles isn’t the first big name to speak out against it: Taylor Swift tweeted on Tuesday that the Texas massacre, as well as incidents in Buffalo and Laguna Woods, had left her filled with rage and grief”. She further wrote, We, as a nation, have become conditioned to unfathomable and unbearable heartbreak”.

Several other celebrities expressed their sympathies and asked for stricter gun legislation in the United States. Matthew McConaughey, an Academy Award winner from Uvalde, also spoke out against Tuesday’s sad mass shooting, saying that people need to “rearrange our values” to find common ground.

Selena Gomez also expressed her concern for the safety of school children in a Tweet:

Steve Kerr, the American professional basketball coach and former player, said ‘We can not get numb to this.’

Not only the stars, but the entire nation has been stunned and heartbroken by this tragic event. The freshly released Season of Netflix’s hit show ‘Stranger Things’ also carries a Graphic Content Disclaimer, specifically added after the heinous act of shooting took place in Texas.

Styles will begin on his sold-out “Love on Tour 2022” in August, following the release of his third studio album “Harry’s House” last week. The tour will visit a number of cities, including New York and Los Angeles (15 nights each), Chicago and Austin (five nights each), and Toronto (four nights) (two nights). Madi Diaz (Toronto), Blood Orange (New York), Gabriels (Texas), Jessie Ware (Chicago), and Ben Harper are the tour’s openers (Los Angeles).
