James Corden ‘Politely’ Apologized After Being Banned from a New York City Restaurant, the Owner Claims

James Corden

James Corden is back at New York’s Balthazar.

Restaurant owner Keith McNally said the late-night talk show star, 44, apologized after McNally, 71, criticized Corden for his improper conduct in the restaurant.

“James Corden just called me and apologized profusely,”  McNally posted on Instagram beside a photo of Corden.

He then joked that Corden is allowed back at his restaurant under one condition, writing: “So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for 9 months, I’ll immediately rescind his ban from Balthazar.”

“Of course not,” McNally said, “but….anyone kind enough to apologize to a bankrupt layabout like my team and me doesn’t deserve to be barred from anyplace, let alone Balthazar.”

He signed off saying, “So Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven. xx.”

It has only been a few hours since McNally stated that Corden was “86’d” from Balthazar when his supposed apology was made.

In an earlier post on Monday, he made the statement, “James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man,” he wrote this way. “And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”

McNally continued by saying, “I don’t often 86 a customer, but today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh.”

He continued by describing what he called the “funny man’s treatment of my staff” from two times Corden came into his establishment. He claimed Corden had similar behavior at McNally’s previous restaurant, Cafe Luxembourg. He also claimed that Corden had come into McNally’s establishment on two separate occasions.

McNally stated that the first incident occurred in June, when Corden was consuming his meal at table 61 and discovered that there was a hair in it.

According to what McNally has written, “Although this is diabolical, it happens Very occasionally in all restaurants,”

He claimed that after finishing his main course, the “TV personality showed the hair to Balthazar manager G. who was very apologetic. Corden was extremely nasty to G., and said: ‘Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that.’ “

McNally allegedly accused Corden of complaining about his wife’s food in another incident earlier this month.

“That’s when James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: ‘You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!’ “ McNally claimed.

He stated that the waiter was “very apologetic and brought G. over to the table. He returned the dish, and after that, everything was fine. He gave them promo Champagne glasses to smooth things out. G. said that Corden was pleasant to him but nasty to the server. M.K. was very shaken, but professional that she is, continued to finish her shift.”

McNally previously told that while he was “reluctant” to broadcast Corden’s alleged conduct, he “did so out of loyalty to restaurant servers everywhere.”

However, in response to Corden’s ridiculing of Asian foods and violation of cultural rights, Kim Saira started a petition back in 2021 after condemning it in a viral TikTok video. She raised her concerns, noting that the dishes in the episode are presented in an unappealing and unclean manner. The meals discussed by Corden in this episode, on the other hand, come from Asian cultures and have been a part of Asian societies for centuries.
