The movie is based on the actual history of Rudy Ray Moore, the comedian who tried by writing, creating, and playing on an incredibly poor budget to get his hit stand-up character, “Dolemite”, to the masses.
This film is a funny backstage tale, not unlike Bowfinger, about one man’s artistic passion that comes against all odds to life. Murphy is volatile, Da’Vine Joy Randolph defines a breakthrough, and Wesley Snipes takes his position as director in a scandalous turn.

It’s called a comedy because at least three of those segments, including Tim Blake Nelson and James Franco, are directly involved. This is simply a long joke and is great for the first time. The new release is “Near Algodones.”
