“Top Gun: Maverick” continues to fly high and set new records for Tom Cruise’s successful career.
“Top Gun: Maverick” has turned out to be the biggest successful film of the year already. Sure, The Batman and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness performing well was pretty much expected, but “Maverick” has taken everyone by surprise as it has outperformed both of these films.
#TopGunMaverick definitely one of the best movie I’ve seen in a while 🙌🏾

Specifically considering the prequel’s performance and the three decades gap between the installments, and of course, the all-star glory of Tom Cruise’s box office for hits like the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Top Gun Maverick has surpassed fans’ expectations by a huge margin.
However, after nearly a month of its release, Maverick’s already the biggest hit of the year locally, the biggest hit of Cruise’s entire career, and the second-biggest hit film for Paramount in its history.
Maverick sales went down just 15% in its fourth weekend locally, making it’s earning $44 million, which also happens to be the third biggest fourth-weekend haul so far in the history. The two films which were up against Maverick were Avatar and American Sniper.
Internationally, it added $39 million this weekend. Japan ($5.4 million), the U.K. ($5.1 million), and Australia ($4.8 million) were the film’s top territories in its fourth weekend, followed by France, Brazil, and Germany.
Singapore and Malaysia saw an improvement in the sales weekend after weekend. Even if Maverick performs averagely, it’ll still manage to bag $550 domestically and a total of $600 million.
Do you believe Top Gun: Maverick has been worth the hype? How was it? Let us know!
According to Forbes, crossing the $1 billion mark shouldn’t be an issue for this film in the least, which will definitely be a first for Cruise’s entire career.
Here’s a breakdown for you:
“Top Gun: Maverick” earned $44 million in its fourth weekend in the movie theaters, bringing its total earnings to $52 million. After making $473 million domestically, hence, a total of $900 million worldwide, and more to come with its South Korean release soon, it’s all set to scale the $1 billion by Monday or tomorrow.

Previously, the 59-year-old actor’s top-earning movie was Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) which earned $791 million worldwide. Franchise films seem to be doing the trick for Cruise, apart from Rock of Ages, American Made, Oblivion.
Cruise’s upcoming films are for the Mission: Impossible franchise, set to release in 2023, and 2024.
The Cruise-starrer film is turning out to be the biggest $100 million-plus opener in history. It has already gotten the upper hand on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is all set to overtake Wonder Woman and Shrek 2 anytime soon, and of course, with the Father’s Day weekend, the movie choice is an obvious one.
Closing out Father’s Day with Maverick/Iceman, a Top Gun rewatch and a pretty darn tasty cocktail – well played Dogfish Head! 👊🏼 #TopGun pic.twitter.com/HS6MpQJW7b
