Hulu’s Hellraiser Reboot Gets a Physical Media Release for UK Fans

4. Enter the World of Pain, Hellraiser Reboot Physical Release for UK Fans

The gates of Hell have been opened once again, this time in the United Kingdom. Fans of the classic horror franchise Hellraiser will be delighted to hear that Hulu’s reboot of the iconic series is getting a physical media release in the land of tea and crumpets. Hellraiser (2022) will be on DVD in the UK on March 27, 2023.

For those living under a rock, Hellraiser is a horror franchise that started in the late 80s and is known for its gruesome depictions of sadomasochistic demons and their victims. The original film, directed by horror legend Clive Barker, introduced the world to the Cenobites, a group of otherworldly beings summoned by a cursed puzzle box.

One of the fans shared his feelings about the physical release of the Hellraiser (2022).

If you’re someone who prefers streaming movies and shows online rather than buying a DVD, here’s how to watch Hellraiser in the United Kingdom on Hulu. Some of last year’s best horror movies are still unavailable on DVD or Blu-ray because they were only available online. On that list are the movies Texas Chainsaw Massacre on Netflix and Prey on Hulu.

David Bruckner, who directed The Night House and parts of Bloody Disgusting’s horror anthologies V/H/S and Southbound, relaunched the Hellraiser franchise for Spyglass Media with a Hulu feature film written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (SiREN, Super Dark Times, The Night House).

The project was first called a “loyal, yet updated, re-imagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic,” Barker himself was on board as a producer.

The original Hellraiser is a classic horror film that has stood the test of time. It’s a masterclass in practical effects and atmospheric storytelling, with memorable characters and truly terrifying moments. Jamie Clayton from Sense8 played the Priest, also known as Pinhead, the leader of the Cenobites. The Cenobites are beings from another world with “such sights to show you” if you solve their puzzle box.

Odessa A’zion of Grand Army and Fam played Riley McKendry. She was a recovering drug addict and the latest person to own the puzzle box in the franchise. Drew Starkey, Brandon Flynn, Adam Faison, and Goran Vinji are among the other people in the movie.

The ensemble cast features actors such as Odessa A’zion (“Fam,” “Grand Army”), Adam Faison (“Everything’s Gonna Be Okay,” “Yes Day”), Drew Starkey (“Outer Banks,” “The Devil All the Time”), Brandon Flynn (“Ratched,” “13 Reasons Why”), Aoife Hinds (“The Long Call,” “Normal People”), Jason Liles (“Stereoscope,” “Rampage”), Yinka Olorunnife (“The Transporter”), Selina Lo (“Boss Level,” “Q8 Unleashed”), Zachary Hing (“Halo”), Kit Clarke (“Leonardo”), with Goran Visnjic (“The Boys,” “Timeless”) and Hiam Abbass (“Succession,” “Blade Runner 2049”).

Hellraiser is a new take on the well-known horror franchise. It is about a young woman struggling with addiction who finds an old, mysterious puzzle box. She doesn’t know that it was the reason her brother went missing and that its purpose is to call the Cenobites supernatural beings from another dimension.

Even though the horror genre is full of slashers and serial killers, Hellraiser still stands out as a look at how pain and pleasure can be mixed and how easily those lines can be crossed and destroyed.

Pinhead has become one of the most famous horror villains and a horror icon. The idea of making a new version of Barker’s classic has been around for a while, and the Hellraiser reboot got the go-ahead in 2019.

The Hulu reboot is a worthy successor to the original. It manages to capture the essence of the original film while also bringing something new to the table. Of course, some die-hard fans will never be satisfied with the reboot, but it will be a satisfying watch for those willing to give it a chance.
