Hulu has announced the debut date for its new suspenseful series “The Clearing,” based on J.P. Pomare’s best-selling crime thriller novel. The psychological thriller delves into the true stories of cults in Australia and around the world.

Hulu confirmed through its official Twitter account that the show will premiere on May 24 with two episodes, and will then follow a weekly schedule releasing new episodes every Wednesday.

The show follows the nightmares of a cult and a woman who must confront the demons from her past to stop the kidnapping and oppression of innocent children in the future.

Moreover, Hulu has unveiled a spooky teaser trailer for the series, to build excitement for the upcoming release.

In the teaser, Miranda Otto portrays the cult leader who is recruiting new children into the group, with blonde-haired kids that almost look identical to each other, being taken away from their families. Simultaneously, there are reports of abductions on television, and a police investigation is underway around the case.

Teresa Palmer is seen as a frantic woman who takes it upon herself to stop the kidnapping and coercion of children by a terrifying cult, while also confronting her own inner demons and dark past.

The Clearing ” is an eight-episode series that will be an emotional and psychological thriller filmed in Victoria, Australia.

According to the official synopsis, “The series burrows under the skin and inside the mind, blurring the lines between past and present, reality and nightmare in a truly unnerving way.”

J.P. Pomare, the author of the novel drew inspiration for the story from ‘The Family,’ a cult that was active in Australia during the 1960s.

Pomare shared that, “This story was heavily inspired by ‘The Family’ cult which was active in Victoria from the sixties to the nineties. I was fascinated by the fact it is one of the only well-known cults to be founded by a woman, and also the deep ties the cult had to the medical and academic world in Australia.
