During a TV Podcast appearance promoting his new project “Outer Range,” Cable wasn’t directly mentioned. While Cable’s return initially seemed promising, recent developments have confirmed his absence from the Deadpool & Wolverine movie.
No official casting announcement included him and his cybernetic arm is conspicuously missing from any trailers released so far. Brolin even playfully hinted at a possible rift with Ryan Reynolds, the star of Deadpool.

During the Podcast, when the host jokingly pointed out that he is on the IMDB page of Deadpool and Wolverine, Brolin replied with a playful, “Am I? Yeeeesssss! I so wanted to be in that movie,” hinting at a lack of clarity from Marvel Studios. His laughter suggested frustration with the studio’s secrecy, particularly regarding his exclusion from the third Deadpool film.
He further elaborated on the situation, saying: “[Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than ‘Outer Range’ will ever be, my friend.” This quote emphasizes the complex inner workings of Marvel Studios, leaving him in the dark about his involvement.

Brolin concluded by expressing his enjoyment of playing Cable: ” And I will never know where that went or what that is or what I’m involved with or what I’m not involved with —Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun.” This suggests a potential openness to returning to the role in the future, should the opportunity arise.
Despite missing out on the movie, Brolin displayed no animosity towards anyone involved. In fact, his enthusiasm for “Deadpool & Wolverine” shone through. “Hugh [Jackman], I’m absolutely in love with,” he exclaimed. “I know Ryan [Reynolds] now, and I’ve met Hugh a couple of times, and I think when he did ‘Logan’—forget it! I mean, Scott Frank, who wrote it, is a good friend of mine and I just think the coming together of [these characters] is just fantastic.”
Brolin even complimented Jackman’s youthful appearance: “And Hugh, I don’t know how old Hugh is now—is he 56, 57? I mean, seriously, the dude doesn’t age. So, yeah. I’m a big fan of his.” This positivity suggests Brolin might be open to future collaborations within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
