It takes you to a realm that doesn’t exist beyond imagination, and yet it’s extremely mind-boggling. If anything. Sci-fi movies are the fuel everyone needs to ignite their imagination.

Netflix is full of science fiction titles; you just have to find the right ones. I compiled this list for you, so you don’t have to dig down and search for yourself. If you like the list, you can thank me later!

1. The Matrix (1999)

Now, who here hasn’t heard of the Matrix? If you have not, just close the blog and start from it only. Matrix revolves around the concept of an alternate reality.

Long story short, Thomas Anderson, a computer programmer, gets involved in an underground war waged by supercomputers in a system called the Matrix.

The movie has set the foundation for other movies as well, as it successfully showcases alternate realities and slow-motion bullet chasing. It literally gave Hollywood something that no one had ever thought of before or at least executed so well.

2. The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

With a staggering $465.3 million in box office earnings, that too on a budget of only $63 million, The Matrix was undoubtedly a huge success! Therefore, it was bound to have a sequel, and thankfully like most movie sequels, this one did not suck.

The sequel made $739.4 million, which obviously proves that it was well-received. The Merovingians have the Keymaker, and Neo attempts to save him but realized that in order to save Zion, he must face the architect. Meanwhile, Zion prepares for the ultimate war against the computers!

Thankfully the producers didn’t rush into making the sequel and waited a good 4 years before releasing it; this is one reason why the sequel was also damn good!

3. The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

The Matrix franchise had built a strong fan following and foundation by the time that the producers released two sequels in 2003. Neo is the only hope to save humanity from the war and protecting Zion. In this part, Neo plays as a peace broker between humans and computers, which humans also built.

But to do all that, Neo must first face the rogue agent Smith, his longtime enemy. Will he succeed in this negotiation with his arch-nemesis? You have to watch the movie to find it out because here things get very intense!

4. Men in Black (1997)

Men in Black is also a classic that intrigued audiences with its concept of threat from intergalactic species. The movies feature Will Smith & Tommy Lee, Jones.

Both the actors have shown amazing acting, and the film does have a comical tone which makes it interesting at the same time. This is one of those Sci-Fi Movies On Netflix, without which the catalog would be incomplete. It is an old action movie if you are wondering the best new action movies on Netflix then scroll down to find out.

The movie is all about high-tech weapons and instruments used to fight aliens and save humanity from a massive attack. Concepts such as time traveling and memory-erasing are shown pretty smoothly without making it feel like a very serious action movie. The film performed very well, and the franchise recently released its fourth part in late 2019.

5. Her (2013)

The problem with introverts is that they love too deeply, and the problem with writers is that most of them are actually introverts. Maybe it’s the brain’s way of coping up and expressing yourself. Her revolves around a similar ground.

Theodore Twombly is a writer who purchases an artificial intelligence-based system to help him write. The introvert writer is amazed by the system’s ability to understand him and improve itself.

Theodore gradually and unknowingly falls in love with the A. I based system; maybe it is his recent break up that turns his mind toward it unintentionally. The film has witty dialogues to keep you engaged and very stimulating cinematography, which makes it very unique and different.

6. Ex Machina

Would you miss the chance to be a part of a scientific experiment, especially if you’re a programmer? I probably would not. Caleb Smith, a young programmer, does the same.

He joins in a strange experiment where a female Artificial Intelligence-based robot is presented to her, and he is expected to analyze and interact with the robot.

The film explores the possibility of whether one day humans and machines could form a relationship as Smith is introduced to the world’s most capable and possibly truest form of a female robot.

She is the first of her kind and maybe the last as well… to find out if human + AI romance can one day be a reality. Watch the film to find out more!

9. Under The Skin (2014)

Who would not fall prey to the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson? An extraterrestrial being disguised as a human female lands in Scotland and lures men into her van, sending them into a completely different dimension where they are nothing more than meat.

A fan perfectly describes it as, “Odd and sexy, troubling and touching, frustrating and mesmerizing, dull and haunting.” Under the Skin is a film by Jonathan Glazer and really makes one wonder what’s under the skin.

The movie is based on a novel by the same name, written by Michel Faber in 2000. However, the most moving point about the movie is when the alien entity (Scarlett Johansson) herself begins experiencing life as a human with tragic and terrifying consequences.
