On 2nd June, Hulu released the official trailer for the upcoming original film The Princess, which appears to be a classic Disney fairy tale… until it very clearly isn’t.

Hulu and 20th Century Studios have released a preview for The Princess, their next bone-crushing, unusual fairytale film, and it’s a pleasant breath of fresh air.

The Princess is directed by Le-Van Kiet (“Furie”) and stars Emmy Award® nominee Joey King (“The Act” and “The Kissing Booth”) as a beautiful, strong-willed princess who refuses to marry the cruel sociopath to whom she is set to marry, and is abducted and imprisoned in a remote tower of her father’s palace.

Here’s the amazing trailer of the movie released by Hulu, and we are totally enthralled. Let’s take a look:

People living outside of the US can also watch Hulu from anywhere with the help of a VPN.

Coming back to the trailer, it begins with the whirling orchestral noises and shows a classic scenario with a damsel in distress imprisoned in a faraway tower. This damsel in distress, on the other hand, is anything but oppressed.

Fans are completely smitten away by how breathtaking Joey King is looking in the trailer. Here’s a tweet from one of the fans:

We see the princess take matters into her own hands as the string harmony fades out and Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” starts.

She quickly establishes herself as a formidable opponent, cracking heads and bloodying everyone her fiancé sends after her. Defiant in every aspect, you can’t stop this badass woman on her way to save her family, no matter how hard you try.

Veronica Ngo (The Old Guard) also appears in some stunning sequences, and while it’s unknown what role she’ll play, her character stands alongside the princess, practically chopping down everybody who stands in their way.

Olga Kurylenko (Black Widow) also appears in the film, and from the trailer’s fast-paced footage, she appears to be the villain.

The film, written by Ben Lustig and Jake Thornton, the duo behind Winter’s Knight and Final Fantasy, is sure to have plenty of one-liners and well-timed humorous parts.

Neal H. Moritz from the Fast & Furious franchise, Tony Jaffe from Total Recall, and Derek Kolstad from John Wick, are among the production team’s top names. King will also act as an executive producer alongside Guy Riedel, in addition to starring in the film.

The Princess is absolutely for you if you’re searching for a colorful, historical twist in a princess story. The Princess, which premieres on Hulu on July 1, proves to stretch the boundaries of what a fairy tale action film can be.
