In the not too distant future, the “Spiderhead” will unfold, as convicted prisoners will be given the opportunity to shorten their sentences by working in medical trials as experimental subjects. Two inmates are asked to pursue emotion-affecting medications. As a consequence, heroes are compelled to struggle against their history.
Deadline reports that Netflix has completed casting for Spider’s Head, a new sci-fi movie. The screenplay was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) on the basis of George Saunders’ tale of the same name and will be directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion). Chris Hemsworth, Jurnee Smollett, and Miles Teller will play the main roles in the movie.
George Saunders’ books have been published many times on the New York Times bestseller list. Because of the unusual combination of tragicomic elements with serious moral concerns, critics compared his work to those of Kurt Vonnegut. The short story “Spider’s Head” was included in the 2013 publication of the series of stories “December Tenth.”
