The film is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, a history of House Targaryen set 300 years prior to the Game of Thrones. Ryan Condal (Colony) is the showrunner in conjunction with the brave warrior GoT experienced Miguel Sapochnik (who helmed episodes such as “The Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter”). Sapochnik will too take part in the direction of the pilot and extra scenes.
HBO has confirmed to air 10 episodes of the series. It has begun to move forward on its Game of Thrones prequel. The network has started casting enthusiastically for the highly anticipated series House of the Dragon, sources affirm to EW.
Officially no casting details have been disclosed as of yet. But numerous fans are expecting around the potential lead characters based on Martin’s book. Fire & Blood covers 150 a long time and incorporates the rise and fall of numerous rulers in Westeros so there is no information on which characters and time period will be the center of the series. But sources tell EW that the popular Dance of Dragons – the Targaryen Gracious War that sometimes is referenced in GoT that tore apart Westeros – will be handled at a few points within the series. Few fans believe the show will feature an American Horror Story-style collection series, covering different time zones.
A few key figures within the Targaryen civil war expected to be casted include:
— King Viserys I: The adored fifth Targaryen king whose rule was tranquil and affluent until his death.
— Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen: Ruler Viserys’ chosen heir; a dragon rider who developed up anticipating to become the first ruling Queen of Westeros.
— Queen Alicent Hightower: Viserys’ motive driven spouse and Rhaenyra’s stepmother, who had three children of her possess with the king.
— Aegon II Targaryen: Princess Rhaenyra’s younger half-brother who rivals Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne, starting a civil war.
From this, it’s enticing to conjecture on casting. But only because of the fact that they are in the novel does not guarantee they will be a part of the series.
