Game of Thrones’ Prequel ‘Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Raises Stakes with ‘Black Mirror’ Director in Major Role

Game of Thrones fans, get ready for a new journey in Westeros! The upcoming prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has brought in a major creative talent from Black Mirror.

Director Owen Harris, who wowed audiences with episodes like “San Junipero” and “Be Right Back,” will direct the first three episodes of the new series. He’ll also help shape the overall direction of the show as an executive producer.

A Shorter but Exciting First Season

The first season will have six episodes, a shorter opener compared to the 10 episodes of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Harris’s work promises an exciting and powerful season, exploring Westeros as it was 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

“A Young, Naive but Courageous Knight”

The series will follow Ser Duncan the Tall, known as “Dunk,” and his squire Egg. These two unlikely friends travel together during a time when the Targaryens still rule the Iron Throne and dragons are almost extinct. Their journey promises “great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits.”

Knight-of-the-Seven-Kingdom

Harris isn’t the only new addition to the show. Actors Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell have been cast as Dunk and Egg, respectively. The series is based on George R.R.

Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, and he’s involved in writing and producing the show with Ira Parker. Other producers include Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Sarah Bradshaw, and Owen Harris.

It’s still unknown who will direct the remaining three episodes, but Harris’s work on shows like Mrs. Davis, The Twilight Zone reboot, and the film Kill Your Friends raises expectations for this series.

The Game of Thrones Universe Grows

HBO is expanding the Game of Thrones universe. House of the Dragon was a big hit with nearly 29 million viewers per episode, and there are plans for more spinoffs.

One upcoming project will focus on Aegon’s Conquest, showing the rise of the first Targaryen king. Fans can now look forward to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set to air in 2025.
