The comedy series’ cancellation by Hulu for a second season was confirmed in January, but Levitan intends to find a new home for it. Another streamer reportedly requested to examine scripts from the twentieth TV comedy’s second season.

Levitan stated in a previous interview that he viewed Reboot as “much-needed therapy” since it gave him the opportunity to “say some of the things [he’d] been thinking” about professionally. He claimed to think of it as a “love letter to sitcoms.”

When asked about the difficulties of making a new show following the success of his Emmy-winning ABC show Modern Family, Levitan remarked, “It occurs to you that it’d be a much smarter move to just say, ‘I’m going to ride Modern Family out with the sunset and go off to wine country.’ But I wanted to keep working. I enjoy this and like to write and create. I do feel the pressure of that. I tried to harness it in a good way to motivate me to not settle.”

Levitan earlier shared in October, “There were a lot of balls in the air during the finale, and the first thing to do is to make sure that those all land in a compelling and entertaining way,” . “But it’s amazing how quickly the world expanded, there’s a lot to explore. I think in season 2 we will get into the premiere of the show [the Step Right Up reboot] and all that goes into that.”

He further stated that: “As somebody who just went through a premiere, there’s fresh stuff for me to delve into about what it’s like in this day and age to launch a show when the whole world can comment on it. It’s a pretty fascinating time. That’s one of the things we’ll talk about.”

The family comedy from the 2000s was being revived by the executives at Hulu and this was the subject of the one-camera comedy. The reboot’s logline stated that actors from the original cast would reappear in their roles and intended to “deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.”

While expressing his gratitude towards the show, Knoxville shared that being a part of the show “has been one of the great highlights of my life” and thanked the series creator Steve Levitan and the actors for “allowing me to be part of this show.” “It’s not over yet though, as we tend to shop it around and hopefully it will find a home with a studio who believes in and knows how to properly support a new show as it continues to grow,” he stated.
