It’s official: the popular animated show Kulipari will now be shown on Hulu. The animation studio from the Outlook Company, OVFX Studios, and Disney’s Hulu has announced a new partnership. This will make the streaming service the new home for the “Kulipari” franchise, based on the popular children’s books written by former NFL player Trevor Pryce.
“A King Rises,” the third season and newest addition to the franchise, is a three-episode story arc that will bring the “Amphibilands” saga to a close with the coronation of a new King of the Lands. It will first air on Hulu at the end of 2023.
The show’s first two seasons, “Kulipari: An Army of Frogs” and “Kulipari: Dreamwalker,” will start streaming today on Hulu as brand-new special editions with new artwork, remixed sound, and updated credit sequences. Both seasons will be on Hulu’s “Black Stories Always” hub, celebrating Black stories and visionary storytellers in February and year.
The studio’s first feature film will be a remake of the first book in the “Kulipari” series, “An Army of Frogs.” It will be made in lifelike 3D with the latest motion capture and rendering technology and start the franchise in a new way. In late 2024, it will be available only on Hulu.
All of Pryce’s projects are being made by The Outlook Company, an innovative digital animation and production studio owned by a minority group in Baltimore. It is located in the Hoen Building, a new building near the Johns Hopkins Medical campus. It now has a high-end animation studio with 80 artists and is the leader in the growing art scene in the Mid-Atlantic, especially in Baltimore.
Trevor Pryce said in a statement, “We are beyond excited to partner with Hulu on the next productions of the ‘Kulipari’ Franchise. They’ve been inspiring to us, and have trusted our process from the beginning. Especially being a new studio, one that is embracing cutting-edge technology and is partly funded with public and private capital, and staffed with mostly first-time artists, this is the opportunity we needed to show what this part of the world could do in the competitive franchise and pop culture space. And to do this in both 2D and 3D, we couldn’t have picked better partners to help us with that mission.”
