"Tiny Beautiful Things" Receives High Praise from Variety, ABC Signature, and Hulu at Los Angeles Premiere

Variety, ABC Signature, and Hulu came together to celebrate the highly-anticipated premiere of the new Hulu series, “Tiny Beautiful Things“. The event, which took place in Los Angeles, was attended by the show’s cast and creatives, who were toasted for their work on the moving and inspirational series.

The series is adapted from the New York Times bestseller of the same name by Cheryl Strayed. It is a compilation of essays from her anonymous “Dear Sugar” advice column that she wrote over a decade ago. The show’s creator, Liz Tigelaar, adapted the book for television, featuring Kathryn Hahn as a respected advice columnist who is struggling to keep her own life together.

The premiere event saw Tigelaar, and Strayed walk down the purple carpet, adorned with colorful flowers, to discuss their latest project.

While addressing how she penned Strayed’s tale to be adapted for the big screen, Tigelaar mentioned that, “Once I sat down to figure it out, it was beyond what I had dreamed. It was almost something that felt so much bigger than me because it was — it was Cheryl. It became this amazing opportunity to be really ambitious with this storytelling, and to really tell a story that, at its core, is about love and how it’s never too late to become who you need to become.

To further add, Strayed shared that she never expected her “Dear Sugar” column to be adapted into a TV series, or even a book for that matter. Interestingly, the best-selling book “Tiny Beautiful Things” was not the only adaptation of Strayed’s work. The book was also adapted for the stage, with a sold-out show at The Public Theater in New York in 2016.

The upcoming Hulu series marks a reunion for author Cheryl Strayed, and actresses Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. The three previously collaborated on the 2014 film “Wild.”

While conversing about her work experience with Witherspoon, Strayed shared that, “I have so much love and admiration for Reese. She is so committed to her big vision of telling real stories about women and girls . On the micro level, [she] always committed to doing good work and leading with heart and leading with compassion and kindness. She really is such a supportive friend and a supportive producer. She has so much generosity and compassion. I can’t tell you enough about this woman who is really one of my dearest friends.

Tiny Beautiful Things” is produced by Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, along with Dern and Jayme Lemons’ Jaywalker Pictures, and Liz Tigelaar and Stacey Silverman’s Best Day Ever banner. The show is set to be a stunning example of the quality content that these acclaimed production companies are known for.

The heartfelt series executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern, is set to start streaming on Hulu, from April 7. Here’s how you watch Tiny Beautiful Things on Hulu outside the US.

Moreover, Hello Sunshine’s Lauren Neustadter shared her views about the series. While jokingly expressing her hope for viewers to tweet pictures of themselves sobbing after watching the series, she mentioned that, “I’m so excited for the world to see this show. I think this show is so singular, and so beautiful and there’s so many levels and layers. It has a richness to it and I think there’s nothing like it I can’t wait for them to see it because we know how special it is. I can’t wait for the world to find out.”

The cast and creatives behind “Tiny Beautiful Things” celebrated the premiere of their highly anticipated series at a chic dinner party held at Hinoki & the Bird in Los Angeles. The star-studded event was attended by the show’s cast, including Sarah Pidgeon, Owen Painter, Tanzyn Crawford, Quentin Plair, Johnny Berchtold, Aneasa Yacoub, and Michaela Watkins. Their images were captured while enjoying the farm-to-table cuisine and beautiful cocktails on offer.

Furthermore, Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, who is scoring the music for the series, was also present and expressed her excitement at the opportunity to work on her first television or film project. She also admitted to being surprised and taken aback by having been approached by Liz Tigelaar to work on this series.

To further add, the young cast members were understandably nervous yet excited to walk the red carpet. Owen Painter, one of the show’s stars, expressed his nervousness, while Tanzyn Crawford spoke about the supportive environment on set, praising the positive tone set by the numerous female executive producers.

Similarly, Sarah Pidgeon, who plays the younger version of Kathryn Hahn’s character, was ecstatic to work with Hahn and portray her character in flashbacks. She mentioned “pinching herself” on the red carpet, as it felt unreal. When asked if anyone has ever told her that she resembles Hahn in real life, Pidgeon took it as a compliment and joked that “I take it as a compliment. That’s a huge compliment. I would be honored for that to be my celebrity doppelgänger!”

The attendees of the event praised the series for its poignant exploration of life’s ups and downs, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work on such a touching project. The premiere event hosted by the respective streaming platforms was a night to remember.
