Hayley Williams and Billie Eilish are the queens of making Misery look fun.

On Saturday night, during Eilish’ headlining show at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’s second weekend, the 20-year-old Grammy Award winner stunned the crowd by bringing out Paramore frontwoman.

Williams’ unexpected participation was her first time on the Coachella stage. She and Eilish sang “Misery Business,” a 2007 Paramore smash, in a high-energy duet. Eilish glided through a sequence of gorgeous, breathy harmonies with ease, helping Williams,33, to prove that more than a decade has nothing on the eternal revenge anthem’s appeal.

After a mysterious second stool remained unoccupied on stage while Eilish and her brother Finneas played an acoustic performance of their song “Your Power,” Eilish hinted she could bring out a surprise guest.

“Oh, look! An empty seat. Who’s that for?”Before inviting her “friend” Williams to the stage, Eilish made a subtle remark.

Following an ecstatic embrace between Williams and Eilish, Williams addressed the audience.”This is my first Coachella, whoa.” She further added “Thanks for sharing this with me. This is sick!”

The performance was an exceptionally uncommon treat, because Williams has publicly distanced herself from the song in later years of her career, noting particular lines she perceives as problematic, such as “Once a whore, you’re nothing more/I’m sorry that will never change,”

Williams originally wrote about her views about the song in a blog post from 2015.

She wrote on the post,“Misery Business is not a set of lyrics that I relate to as a 26 year old woman. I haven’t related to it in a very long time. Those words were written when I was 17… admittedly, from a very narrow-minded perspective.”

In September 2018, Williams declared at a Paramore show in Nashville, Tennessee, that the band will no longer be performing the song live. She said,“This is a choice we made because we feel like we should. We feel like it’s time to move away from it for a little while.”

After the duo finished their duet and William left the stage at Coachella, Eilish really can not help but show her own awe and joy to the audience.

“Oh my f—— god,” Eilish stated, after waving Williams goodbye. “Absolutely what on Earth could be cooler than that? I’m dead serious.”

Coachella’s second and final weekend in 2022 concluded on Sunday night with a headline performance by Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd, who took over for Kanye West after he backed out just two weeks before the festival
