Pakistan superstar Babar Azam added another record to his cap on Wednesday as he completed 2000 ODI runs as captain during their match against Bangladesh in the Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2023 in Lahore.

Babar achieved this extraordinary milestone in just 31 innings as captain after coming out to bat in Pakistan’s pursuit of 193 against Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Stadium, where he first began playing.

This was the first match of the Super 4s round of the Asia Cup, where Pakistan faced off against Bangladesh on home turf.

Babar became the fastest captain to score 2,000 ODI runs, surpassing the previous record held by India’s former batter, Virat Kohli, who reached 2,000 ODI runs in 36 innings.

The star batter portrayed his class and consistency on the field, cementing his reputation as one of the best modern-day cricketers. He also joined the elite club of the highest hundred-getters for Pakistan in all formats, along with Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad, and Azhar Ali.

This inspiring performance, which obviously rattles their archrivals, sets up a perfect meeting for when you watch India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 in USA.

The Pakistan captain also registered the highest individual score by a captain in the Asia Cup, surpassing Kohli’s 136 against Bangladesh back in 2014. He also recorded the second-best score by a batter in the tournament, falling short of Kohli’s 183.

Babar’s achievement not only demonstrates his individual brilliance and immense talent but also his leadership skills as the Captain of the Pakistan cricket team. His vital runs could propel Pakistan to rise to the glory in the Asia Cup 2023 and the upcoming World Cup.

The current No.1-ranked ODI batter, who continues to impress as you watch Asia Cup 2023 in USA, could still break another record as he is now just one century away from equaling Saeed Anwar’s record for the most number of centuries for Pakistan in ODIs.

Babar currently has 19 centuries, while Anwar has 20. And with a meeting with India on the way, there is no bigger stage to achieve this feat than against their bitter rivals.
