"Drop-Off": Michaela Conlin to Star in ABC

ABC has ordered a comedy pilot called “Drop-Off” based on the British series “Motherland.” The show will star Michaela Conlin in a supporting role alongside Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s), Karan Soni (Deadpool) and Judy Greer (Reboot).

Drop-Off is a new comedy that follows Julia, a working mother who is struggling to balance her job and parenting responsibilities. Determined to find a support system, Julia sets out to find her “village.” Along the way, she meets new friends Calvin and Liz, played by actors Karan Soni and Michaela Conlin, respectively. With their help, Julia learns that she just might be able to find some balance in her life.
Drop-Off is a relatable comedy that will resonate with anyone who has experienced the stress of school drop-offs and pick-ups, and the challenges of juggling work and family life.

Michaela Conlin, playing as Liz, is another single parent at Julia’s (and Kemper’s) children’s school. She’s laid-back and unconcerned (but she loves her kids, 7-year-old Danny and the baby). Unlike Calvin and Julia, Liz dislikes and refuses to be a member of the exclusive group of moms at their children’s school. Liz’s apartment being empty except for a huge mattress on the floor depicts her unconventional lifestyle. Although, her carefree attitude towards the status quo is soothing to both Calvin and Julia.
