‘Empire’ Star Gabourey Sidibe’s ‘1266’ Reveals Regular Cast and Recurring Guest Stars

The announcement of the final cast of Onyx Collective’s upcoming pilot ‘1266’ has generated a lot of buzz and excitement among fans who are eagerly anticipating the show’s premiere.

With an impressive cast that includes  Kristin Dodson (known for “Flatbush Misdemeanors”), Karim Diané, (known for “One Of Us Is Lying”), and Kassandra Lee Diaz (known for “You Married Dat”) as regulars alongside executive producer and lead actress Gabourey Sidibe, who will play the role of Gabby. In addition, recurring stars Judy Reyes, Tisha Campbell, and Anna Maria Horsford, have also been announced to join the cast members.

The early 2000s serve as the backdrop for this captivating series, chronicling the life of Gabby (played by Gabourey Sidibe), a directionless young woman residing with her mother, and harboring half-hearted aspirations of becoming a singer/model and instant millionaire.

Following the termination from her recent job, Gabby stumbles upon a telephone operator opportunity in the phone sex industry that appears to be the solution to her never-ending financial woes. However, what began as a get-rich-quick scheme quickly evolves into a profound, transformative journey, as she meets women who eventually become her chosen family, and further learns how powerful, prolific, and profitable her voice can be.

Karim Diané, who portrayed Posh, is a beloved character among all, although there’s always speculation regarding his sexuality. As a student at the New York Institute of Fashion, Posh serves as Gabby’s closest friend, who doesn’t put up with her B.S, calling her out whenever necessary. Despite his brutal honesty throughout the series as Gabby’s best friend, Posh’s delivery is always infused with love, understanding, and a certain level of attitude. As far as the representation is concerned, Diané is repped by Reed Baker at Legendize and Paradigm.

Kristin Dodson’s character, Jimmy, is the youngest phone sex operator at the company Imagine Inc. Immature, carefree, flighty, and prone to making plenty of mistakes, Jimmy is eager to experience life, make lots of mistakes, and have a lot of fun while doing it. Kristin Dodson is repped by The Kohner Agency, Framework Entertainment, and SRDA Law.

Kassandra Lee Diaz embodies Fi, a queer Afro-Latina in her 20s who delights in showering her girlfriends with expensive designer fashion. Cynical, enigmatic, and somewhat introverted, Fi is a reserved but extremely passionate individual who keeps her cards close to the chest, hidden from other people. Kassandra Lee Diaz is repped  by Clinton Lavell Gunnels.

Anna Maria Horsford, known for her roles in “The Wayans Bros.” and “Friday,” will be portraying Eula in the upcoming production. Eula is the mother of Gabby and Wendolyn and is characterized as a strong-willed and determined individual who copes with denial. As a public school teacher, she is not certainly not afraid to voice her personal opinions to her daughters, who have inherited her traits, including Gabby’s artistic and carefree spirit. Eula is represented by Steve LaManna of Innovative Artists and Steve Lovett of Lovett Management.

Trisha Campbell, who portrayed the role of Evelyn, the haughty and frank manager at Imagine Inc., is known for her roles in “Act Your Age” and “Uncoupled.” Evelyn is described as a master of the “nice/nasty” approach, but often appears pessimistic. Having worked at Imagine Inc. for a long time, her enthusiasm and aspirations have gradually dwindled into nearly extinguished flames. Campbell is represented by Tracy Christian of TCA and Attorneys Amber R. Payne and James Adams at Schreck, Rose, Dapello, Adams, Berlin & Dunham LLP.

Judy Reyes, known for her roles in “Claws” and “Scrubs,” will play the role of Kathy, one of the top-performing phone-sex workers at Imagine Inc. and a long-time employee. Reyes is represented by ATA Management, Buchwald, and Franklin, Weinrib, Rudell & Vassallo LLP.

Inspired by the true story of Gabourey Sidibe, who is also serving as executive producer, the series is being produced by Thembi Banks (known for “Only Murders in the Building”), Steven Canals (from “Pose”), and Julie Bean (known for “grown-ish”). Jill Kaplan is also involved as a non-writing executive producer. Additionally, Banks and Bean will serve as co-showrunners, with Banks writing the teleplay and directing the overall pilot for the series.
