Eva Longoria’s Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Movie Releases a Teaser

Eva Longoria

The first official teaser for Flamin’ Hot, the biopic about the creator of the iconic Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, has been released. Since their introduction in the early 1990s, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos have been an indispensable part of the snack food market. The film announced over a decade ago, will be released on Hulu on June 9. With a brand-new teaser, Searchlight Pictures unveiled the first official look at the Flamin’ Hot movie today.

The teaser is barely 23 seconds long but packs a powerful punch. It shows a scene from the film in which a little child engages in a Western-style standoff with a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto prototype. The Flamin’ Hot Cheetos movie has been in the works for several years, and fans eagerly anticipate its release. The film is directed by Longoria, who has spoken about her passion for the project.

Jesse Garcia plays Richard Montaez, a Frito-Lay janitor who claims to be the creator of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The film also stars Annie Gonzalez, Emilio Rivera, Dennis Haysbert, Tony Shalhoub, Pepe Serna, and Matt Walsh.

“I have Flamin’ Hot coming out. That’s the other feature film I also directed during COVID,” the actor told the Associated Press about the film last year. “It’s fantastic, a biopic about Richard Montañez, the man who created the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto. It’s a beautiful, inspiring story, and it’s not what you expect. It’s not what you think. We’re in post now, so that’ll be what’s coming out, and then I’m doing Searching For Mexico with CNN.”

An expose published in 2021 suggested that Montaez’s claims about the snack were an urban legend. Frito-Lay, the company that owns the Cheetos brand, later clarified and supported Montaez’s claim, stating that he was part of a larger team that developed the spicy snack.

“A great deal has been recently discussed about the origin of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The information we shared with the media has been misconstrued by some, which resulted in confusion around where we stand, a range of emotions among our employees and consumers. A strain on our valued friendship with Richard Montañez and the Latino community,” Pepsi’s final statement said.

It added, “The sincere truth is, at PepsiCo, we believe in the strength and power of teams, and we attribute the launch and success of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and other products to several people who worked at PepsiCo, including Richard Montañez. Different work streams tackling the same product without interacting occasionally occurred in the past when divisions operated independently and were not the best at communicating. However, just because we can’t draw a clear link between them doesn’t mean we don’t embrace all of their contributions and ingenuity, including Richard’s.”

It remains to be seen how audiences will receive the film, but one thing’s for sure – the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos movie is a long overdue project. Montanez’s story deserves to be told, and it’s exciting to see Hollywood finally recognizing that fact. For those who grew up snacking on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, this film will undoubtedly be a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

So far, the specifics of Flamin’ Hot have been kept to a minimum. If the teaser is any indication, it is taking on a lightly comic tone; however, given that Montaez’s claims have been contested, it may take on a more dramatic and socially conscious angle as the film progresses. Hulu has a large selection of top-rated movies to offer its online audience, that’s why it’s gaining a lot of attention from users around the globe.
