Hulu is streaming the second season of the hit comedy “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff, “How I Met Your Father.” The cast of How I Met Your Father reveals the dream role for Jennifer Coolidge on the Hulu series as they want her to return to the series.

Hulu has signed an impressive list of stars for How I Met Your Father, including Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris from the original cast of How I Met Your Mother. Meghan Trainer, Josh Peck, Michael McDonald, and Eden Sher appeared in the second season. Hilary Duff has dropped hints that portrayed by Josh Radnor in the original series, Ted Mosby himself may make a cameo in future episodes.

During an interview, Hilary Duff, Tien Tran, and Chris Lowell discussed season 2 of How I Met Your Father. When the interviewer asked the stars who they would want to play older versions of themselves, Tran said she wanted a certain actor to play the mother of Ellen and Jesse.

“Can I share who I want our mom to be?” Tran said, to which Lowell encouraged her. “I want Jennifer Coolidge to be our mom. Jesse and Ellen’s mom. I think she would be absolutely perfect. I would love to see Jennifer play an Iowan mom.”

Hilary Duff and Jennifer Coolidge were both in A Cinderella Story in 2004. We would love to see them work together again. After winning an award for her role in The White Lotus, Coolidge probably has a pretty full schedule these days. But Tran hopes that one day Coolidge will join the cast of How I Met Your Father as Ellen and Jesse’s mother.

Kim Cattrall portrays Sophie in the Hulu series How I Met Your Father, which fans will recognize. Who, then, would portray Ellen and Jesse in the future?

“I’m kind of obsessed with Michelle Yeoh right now,” Tran admitted. “I would have to learn how to do martial arts and ballet. But I think I can do that.”

Duff pointed out, “Or Ellen just has that hidden away from all of us for now.” Laughing, Lowell added, “It just comes out later.”

So Michelle Yeoh is the dream casting for Future Ellen in How I Met Your Father. But what about Future Jesse?

“I have no idea who would be a good older Jesse,” Lowell said. “Maybe Neil Patrick Harris.”

While waiting, Hilary has to bask in NPH’s legendary cameo. “He’s just funny and clever and charming and handsome and all of the things you would think he would be,” Hilary stated. “He’s like cool as the other side of the pillow.”

They only think about the present moment, not the past. The O.G. show, which aired from 2005 to 2014, “doesn’t really cross our minds on a daily basis,” Tom Ainsley, who plays Charlie, admitted. “There will be moments in a script where someone will point out that it’s a reference or a joke from the original show.”

The possible cameos from the original cast may have the audience on the edge of their seats. “How I Met Your Mother” was known for its clever use of flashbacks, time jumps, and other storytelling devices that allowed the writers to bring back beloved characters and explore their backstories more deeply. Fans might hope that “How I Met Your Father” will be able to capture some of that same magic.

The excitement around the show was palpable. Fans of the original series eagerly waited for the spinoff ever since it was announced, and the possibility of cameos from their favorite characters only added to the hype. The premise sounded like it has the potential to capture the same heart and humor that made “How I Met Your Mother” such a beloved show. And with Duff at the helm, fans had no doubts they were in for a real treat.

It’s doubtful that we’ll get to see any new iterations of the How I Met Your Father cast before the conclusion of the series. The teaser has revealed a few guest actors who will be in Season 2. Their names are Mark Consuelos and Constance Marie, and they’ll portray Valentina’s parents. In the next episode, John Corbett, Kim Cattrall’s co-star from Sex and the City, will appear as Sophie’s new potential lover. And Michael Cimino plays a mysterious figure.
