Saw movies in order are some of the most popular horror films in Hollywood. They revolve around a serial killer who puts people through deadly traps as part of his game. The first film was released back in 2004, and since then, there have been at least six sequels released. It is hard to pick out which of the Saw film series movies is the best because they all have their own merits.

Saw (2004)

This film kicks off what has become one of Hollywood’s biggest horror franchises, Saw. The series follows a story of two men who are chained at the neck in a dingy bathroom. The movie was nominated for several awards and even won some, including two Saturn Awards for best performance by young actors on film.

Saw II (2005)

The Jigsaw Killer is back with another game to play. This time he kidnaps a doctor who helped him survive one of his traps. Jigsaw wants to make him feel the pain he has felt to teach him a lesson about how much his patients suffer when they go into surgery unprepared. This time it is up to Detective Eric Matthews, who lost someone close to him in one of Jigsaw’s traps, and Amanda Young to try and stop Jigsaw before he can kill again.

Saw III (2006)

Cast: Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith, Angus Macfadyen

This is the best Saw Movie since its action-packed installments. It follows Jigsaw’s final game and what happens after he dies. The main character has to find a way to save his life before it is too late. The movie was a hit at the box office and won several awards, including three MTV Movie Awards and one for best thriller of 2006.

Saw IV (2007)

The Jigsaw is back, and he has a new apprentice. Detective Mark Hoffman joins in on the game as well with his traps to try out. The movie follows the two as they try to outdo each other and ensure that the one who survives can carry on Jigsaw’s legacy. This film is another hit with fans of the series because it has everything people have come to expect from this franchise, traps, mystery, suspenseful scenes, and more.

Saw V (2008)

In this installment of the series, Detective Hoffman is still on the loose, and he’s been working with Jill Tuck to carry out Jigsaw’s final work. The two of them want to make sure that Jigsaw’s work continues even after he is gone. This movie had some good reviews but not as many as the others in this series, probably because it focused on revealing mysteries rather than having real surprises or tension-filled scenes.

Saw VI (2009)

This film is another mystery where they must fulfill the jigsaw’s final will. It follows Hoffman and Dr. Gordon, who are both trying to get close enough to do so. Detective Hoffman must protect Dr. Gordon because she is the only person who can carry out Jigsaw’s wishes, and he has to make sure that no one else finds out what they are planning. This movie features another game with seven people playing it at once, which makes for some very interesting scenes and a few jumpy moments.

Saw 3D (The Final Chapter) (2010)

The Saw 3D, also known as the Final Chapter, is the final installment in this series, and it brings everything full circle. The movie follows Jigsaw’s last game and the final words that he leaves behind for his friends. The movie is the longest of the franchise, but it still keeps its suspense throughout and even throws in a few twists along the way for good measure.

Jigsaw (2017)

Detective Eric Matthews is back to stop Jigsaw’s final game. He has been out of commission for a long time after being shot in the head one too many times. With the help of some new friends, Detective Matthews tries to stop Jigsaw before more people die. This installment is interesting because it brings back characters from older movies and has a brand new cast of survivors for this final game.

Spiral 2021

This is the last movie (Currently) and features a criminal mastermind who unleashes terror, terrifying everyone in the book of Saw. When a Jigsaw copycat killer murders a cop, Zeke Banks is assigned to investigate and find the killers. In executing the killers, he ends up facing more demons, most of them from his past. How does it go? Ensure to watch the movie.
