Jenna Ortega Calls “Scream 6” Action-Packed and Gory: Neve Campbell’s Absence will Be Forgotten

The year 2022 has been an amazing year for the horror genre. The explosively meta return of the Scream series marked the beginning of the killing year and set the tone for the rest of the year. Scream 6 was swiftly given the go-ahead after the relaunch, received a lot of positive feedback, and had a lot of success at the box office.

The slasher sequel will be released on March 10, 2023, and audiences will be able to watch Scream 6 in cinemas. Sadly, the series star Neve Campbell, also known as final girl Sidney Prescott, will not be returning, which is one of the disappointing aspects of the highly awaited second film.

The breakout star of Scream 2022, Jenna Ortega, has provided her thoughts on Campbell’s absence. While Ortega was doing promotion for her forthcoming series, Tim Burton, she was questioned about how the sixth installment of the Scream franchise will handle the loss of Sidney. Ortega said:

“I feel like I can’t really speak too much on that just because it’s not necessarily my character, but I will say there’s so much going on in this next one, that it’s so action-heavy and so gore-heavy that I think you’re gonna be distracted almost.”

The new queen of Horror followed her statement by stating,  “But it’s very clear, like, there’s references to Sidney, of course.”  It looks as if the presence of Sidney, at least in spirit, is being felt, with a layer of reverence added on for good measure.

Ortega also commented on this topic, saying, “You know, it’s nice because there’s still a protectiveness in the script and that’s something that the actors had naturally over her because obviously we respect her, and we want the best for her. She’s missed and thought of.”

Although it has been difficult to conceive of Scream without Sidney, it is comforting to know that the famous last girl has not been forgotten in its entirety. However, the greatest thing that the new Scream did was offer lovers of horror a new bunch of fantastic characters who we can fall in love with. Watch the best horror movies of all time if you are the kind of person who doesn’t get grossed out when you view really violent and bloody scenes!

Is it upsetting to learn that Final Girl, Sidney Prescott will not be returning, and will the new horror characters be adored? Let us know?

This is the finest thing that the new Scream did. Particularly with regard to Tara and Sam Carpenter, whose respective roles were performed by Ortega and Melissa Barrera. Even without Sidney, their heartwarming backstory about their sisterhood and Sam’s link to the infamous franchise murderer Billy Loomis provides a solid foundation for moving the plot forward.

The challenge with modern, large-scale horror series like Scream is the dilemma of what to do with your surviving last girl. The primary concern is whether or not it is possible to eliminate the character and whether or not the audience would support such a daring plan.

The Halloween series has just provided a conclusive answer to that issue, although it may be for the best that Sidney is not in the next installment of Scream since she is someone who needs peace the most out of anybody.

It is going to become more challenging to organically incorporate her into the franchise as it gets older. She has a family now, and regardless of what you attempt to do with her, the issue of respect and justice for the character will always be brought up in the discourse. This is true despite the fact that she has a family.

In addition, the franchise has, for the most part, exhausted all of the opportunities presented by Sidney. Everyone from the murderous lover to the vengeful mother to the envious brother and cousin to the spoiled fan following has all made attempts to get their hands on the ultimate female.

Having said that, there is nothing that says Campbell cannot appear in other films beyond Scream 6, so there is no need to rule out the possibility.

The history of the Scream series has reached an intriguing and important crossroads at this moment. Even while established characters like Gale Weathers and Kirby will be making appearances in Scream 6, the next chapter will put a far greater emphasis on the new generation of characters.

This “gore-heavy” Scream may or may not be successful without Sidney, but as Ghostface prepares to go to New York, everyone’s attention is focused on the upcoming slasher sequel because of her absence.
