‘The Great’ Season 3 Trailer Is Out: Catherine and Peter’s Marriage Troubles Take Center Stage

Hulu has renewed ‘The Great’ for a third season after the massive success of the first two seasons. It has dropped an exciting new trailer for season 3 of the historical satire series. The trailer provides a sneak peek into the new season, giving viewers a glimpse of humor, drama, and history.

“The Great” official Twitter account has announced the release date for the third season alongside the new trailer.

The trailer features Catherine (Elle Fanning) and Peter (Nicholas Hoult) working on their marriage while Catherine seeks to establish a new Russia. At a conference, she invites peasants, nobles, and merchants to share their opinions, but soon realizes that political progress requires compromise. She also starts to consult Peter on ruling, and they find common ground in the process.

Peter, meanwhile, struggles to find fulfillment as the First Husband. He takes up hunting, fatherhood, and culinary experimentation. However, his late father’s (Jason Isaacs) visions and feelings of inadequacy still haunts him.

To further add, the trailer shows Catherine and Peter seeking marriage counseling as they try to rebuild trust. They experiment with various methods, some historically accurate and some not, in an effort to reconcile.

The series follows Catherine’s journey from the beginning. She is a young woman, who was sent to Russia to marry the emperor, Peter. However, there were some problems in their marriage and a few deaths. Eventually, Catherine led a successful coup and became the empress. In the upcoming season, she will take on even more responsibilities.

In the last season, Catherine and Peter had a disagreement after he confessed to killing Catherine’s mother. Velementov arrested some nobles loyal to Peter, causing more chaos. Catherine tried to kill Peter, but she ended up stabbing his body double instead. Although Peter saw what happened, they will still try to make their marriage work for the sake of their son and Russia.

Peter’s friends, however, seem to doubt his commitment to a happy marriage. It remains to be seen if their efforts to fix their relationship will be successful, but the trailer promises plenty of comedic and dramatic moments in their attempts to do so.

To further add, Catherine will confront some challenges as the empress, including another uprising by the Russian people. Nevertheless, she embarks on the new era with a stronger sense of self-belief. As in Season 2, her primary objective is to grant Russians more freedom of expression. Unfortunately, things don’t go according to plan as she is accused of witchcraft almost immediately, resulting in the disorder that has become a staple of the show.
